General
WhereToMove.io currently covers London. We use data from sources like OpenStreetMap, UK Police API, Ofcom, and more to provide comprehensive coverage of amenities, transport, and local services. More cities coming soon.
Address Search lets you pick a specific location and see what's nearby — places, walking distances, crime data, and more. Area Search is the opposite: you start with criteria like commute time, deprivation, air quality, and demographics, and the map highlights all areas that match. It's ideal when you don't yet know where to look.
LSOA stands for Lower Layer Super Output Area — a small geographic region defined by the Office for National Statistics, typically covering around 1,500 people. Deprivation data comes from the Index of Multiple Deprivation 2025 (MHCLG), which ranks every LSOA across domains like income, employment, education, health, crime, and living environment.
Walking distances are calculated using actual pedestrian routes, not straight-line distances. We use routing engines that account for roads, footpaths, and crossings to give you realistic travel times for walking, cycling, and driving.
Crime data is sourced from the UK Police API, which provides street-level crime incident records. We overlay this data at the LSOA level so you can see relative safety statistics for any neighbourhood.
Yes! With the Starter plan, you can save searches and organise them into lists. This makes it easy to compare different neighbourhoods when you're deciding between multiple properties.
We support over 25 categories including supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, pharmacies, hospitals, schools, universities, gyms, parks, libraries, banks, ATMs, post offices, police stations, fire stations, and more.
Noise data comes from official environmental noise mapping produced under the Environmental Noise Directive (Defra). It includes road traffic, railway, and industrial noise levels, visualised as heatmap overlays on the map.
Demographics data comes from the ONS Census 2021. It covers age, ethnicity, housing, qualifications, and more at the neighbourhood level.
