The streets are dense and busy, cafes and restaurants are plentiful, and you are rarely far from what you need day-to-day. It lacks the boutique sheen of nearby Highbury or Stoke Newington, which for many people is exactly the point.

Primary schooling is a genuine strength. Coleridge, Ambler, and Yerbury Primary schools all hold Outstanding ratings from Ofsted, which is a meaningful draw for parents of young children. Green space is reasonable too, with parks dotted across the area and Finsbury Park itself just on the doorstep for bigger outdoor stretches. The honest trade-off is crime: it runs higher than the London average, and families moving from quieter areas will notice the difference. Secondary provision is also more limited locally, so that is worth researching before committing.
